Six Stuff

Corrosin of plate between engine and bellhousiing

I understand the 6 cylinder has an alloy plate between the block and the bell housing...this is exposed to the coolant, leading to its rotting out if the correct coolant is not used, so coolant for the six must be the same as the alloy v8.
The workshop manual or BBLB, (big blue leyland bible) doesn't disagree with
me here and only mentions one coolant for the p76, sq36, which is compatible with alloy engines. No alternatives are offered for the six cylinder.
I wonder how many sixes have had water put in them?
